Update, 7-29-2009: Here are a couple more pictures, one of George, taken from that same evening at the Tin Star last August when he was playing with Stirling O'Neil's band.

There is plenty of live music to enjoy at the Tin Star Saloon. Wednesday night is when Ben Lucero hosts the Tin Star open jam. Many of Santa Fe's musicians, both pro and amateur can be found on stage at Ben's jam. This is a blog about the music and the musicians who play at the Tin Star. Each week, we will have photos of the players, perhaps an anecdote about the evening, and maybe a sound bite or two of some of the tunes.

I was the bass player with George in the Judds band for many years and a great friend. I hope you guys out there in NM were able to enjoy his being as much as we did here in Nashville. Please post some more photos of him if you have any.
Thanks so much,

I found this message board by Googling "George Honea." I'm a high school classmate & bandmate of George's from Lufkin, Texas. I no longer live there, but I often read the newspaper online. I just came across the obituary for George and I am completely stunned. He was truly one of the good guys. In high school, some of us girls called him "Honea Bear" because he was such a cutie! He'd just blush and smile! If anyone would like to sign the Guest Book or leave a message for the family, you can access it by going to www.lufkindailynews.com and clicking on "obits."
